چکیده

Abstract Background Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic infectious disease, common in China. TB bacteria can invade multiple organs throughout the body, but they rarely cause critical illness. We present complex critically ill case this report. Case presentation A 40-year-old man suffered sudden cardiac arrest during an emergency room visit. Spontaneous circulation resumed after cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), recurrent ventricular fibrillation and refractory shock emerged. Thereafter, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) was implemented to maintain hemodynamic stability. Blood test results revealed that patient had severe electrolyte imbalance adrenal insufficiency. Further imaging examination showed tuberculosis lesions including lungs, glands, lumbar spine. In end, successfully moved from ICU weaning ECMO ventilator, then transferred disease specialist hospital for standard anti-tuberculosis therapy. Conclusions has won opportunity diagnosis treatment of young who rare finally achieved good prognosis.

Successful ECMO-cardiopulmonary resuscitation with the associated post-arrest cardiac dysfunction as demonstrated by MRI

BACKGROUND Veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO-CPR) is a life-saving rescue for selected patients when standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation fails. The use is increasing although the treatment modality is not fully established. Resuscitated patients typically develop a detrimental early post-arrest cardiac dysfunction that also deserves main emphasis. The present study inve...

The Aassociation between Pre-Cardiac Arrest Comorbidity and Unsuccessful Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Patients with Cardiac Arrest

Background and Objective: Patients suffering from cardiac arrest (CA) have poor prognosis and survival. The association of pre-arrest comorbidity with unsuccessful resuscitation in patients with CA is far from clear. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between pre-existing comorbidity and unsuccessful resuscitation following CA in Iranian patients. Materials and Met...

Cortisol levels and adrenal reserve after successful cardiac arrest resuscitation.

The postresuscitation phase after out-of-hospital circulatory arrest shares similarities with severe sepsis. Corticosteroid replacement is beneficial in patients with septic shock and adrenal dysfunction. The goal of this study was to assess baseline cortisol and adrenal reserve of out-of-hospital circulatory arrest patients after recovery of spontaneous circulation. Thirty-three consecutive pa...
